“I was walking behind my friends, a man grabbed me and held me against a wall by my neck. He was groping at my dress and trying to shove a hand underneath.

My friend turned back and he released me and shoved me away. Guess he hadn’t realised I was with people as slightly behind them. I was frozen stiff the whole time.

Told my friend I was fine. Never told them what happened.”

“I was walking to 6th form at about 8.30am. 2 school age boys walking in the opposite direction stopped me and grabbed my breasts, then walked away laughing.

I didn’t even think of reporting it to anyone, but I was really shaken and am still wary when passing groups of boys even to this day.”

He was trying to rip my tights at the crotch

“I was cleaning the bedrooms where I worked and a stag party of around 11 men ran in the room and one of them threw me on the bed and started kissing me and putting his tongue in my mouth. He was trying to rip my tights at the crotch while all the guys stood watching, some laughing, some looking away. They blocked the door. I was pushing him off me and shouting but couldn’t be heard over the laughing. One of the party finally said to stop.
He did.
I had to serve them dinner that night and make their beds again the next morning.”

“I was a third year student nurse when a doctor on the ward used to make me stand next to him to hold equipment whilst he carried out procedures. He would then proceed to rub his crotch up against me as I stood there trapped, holding something important and therefore unable to move.”

“Walking down the road two men pulled over in a van and asked me where I was going. I told them I wasn’t willing to talk and they began to speak aggressively. I wanted to turn and walk away from the traffic however luckily they drove away.”

I was too scared to say anything back and walked away

Intimidation

Age: 53
Location:
Lainés Bakery, Church St

“I was walking home in the afternoon. Two teenage boys came out of Lainés bakery eating pies and one threw a paper bag on the floor. I saw him do this, but didn’t say anything. He walked towards me, stood in front of me and just screamed in my face. I was too scared to say anything back and walked away. I heard his friend ask him why he had done that. He said “Cos she looked at me after I chucked the bag.”

Highfield Road

“On two separate occasions as a young teenager I was followed by a man in a van. They attempted to chat to me while driving along side me from the Highfield Rd area towards my home at the time off Arnold Ave. They were asking for directions at first and asking me to get in and direct them, following me trying to have a conversation with me generally harassing me and making me feel very scared.”
